HEADLINE
Chances are if you are anywhere near the Flint music scene, you’ve probably heard of the influential hip hop group, which constitutes as HEADLINE. The group originated in 2006 by five high school friends: B!Z, B.Corder, Wahyo, Joe Spliff, and Cash who all grew up together within the surrounding areas of Flint, Michigan.
Once they figured out what they were going to call themselves, they went straight to the studio and started “headlining” making all types of music, not just music, but FIRE, everything from their own in house production to countless records. They all shared the same paralleling passion for music, It was simply their own unique way of identifying themselves through music and in life. Furthermore, a way to be different.
Along the way, through various relationships, HEADLINE met other aspiring artist such as vocalist Tierra Marie, comedian TK Kirkland, and a few others that played a pivotal part in the evolution of HEADLINE; not only keeping their movement alive, but further establishing it.
With any other rap group, and with time, HEADLINE had harbored it’s fair share of difficulties. A few artist went their separate ways to other successful opportunities. However, HEADLINE continued to evolve with it’s various endeavors by reshaping its brand and the image of the group. New members, J.A. and Glorydayz, also Flint natives, who synonymously shared the similar harmonious drive, passion, taste, skill and talent in music; in addition to, the same initial vision of HEADLINE joined the group in 2009. Since then the team has featured on projects such as OnmywaytoTokyo which was (executively produced by B.Corder) and worked with numerous artists and producers from the state such as MamaSol, A.P., ClearSoulForces, Nameless and many others.
In 2010 their first group internet viral mixtape, “The Known Unknowns” was released which featured J.A, Spliff, Wahyo, BCorder which was (executively produced by B!Z) was a success with over 30,000 plays and views, and numerous blog postings from all over the nation. Since the release of the mixtape, B!Z, J.A, Joe Spliff, and Wahyo have become the foundation of HEADLINE Music.
HEADLINE has since then released countless tracks such as, “Catch Up” “WMD” “Kings of the City” “Lyrical Dope” “Must Be” and “Church” (to name a few) not to mention a host of other numerous classics and individual projects have been released since then, including the most recent, highly anticipated summer record “Faded” featuring B!Z, J.A and Spliff. HEADLINE has performed at a variety of venues, which has further helped and established the bands presence within the music industry.
Emerging from just a simple idea in high school, to a group, to eventually a household name, you’ll either hear or see HEADLINE all over the market, and I’m not talking about just the bold print heading at the top of an article or page generally found in a newspaper or magazine. They’re making their own HEADLINE(s), and live their lives Over The Top. It’s a culture. It’s a movement. It’s a lifestyle. Headlining is a natural art to them. HEADLINE expects to go on tour this fall 2013. For further contact information you can keep up with HEADLINE on twitter: @_theheadlines
